As long as it's offered with a manual, I'm down!

Body cladding + tall ride-height= not a wagon. Wagony crossover, those are the rules in just made up. ;)

C'mon man, these two companies are trying to give us wagons in an environment of people who just want to see how close their budget will let them get to an escalade. It's not their fault the mass of idiots out there don't know a good thing when they see it. They're doing what they can!

I have no problem with them offering this car along side the Jetta wagon as they plan to do...and that is the right course of action. I'm just bitter that Subaru and Audio killed off the real wagons for this lifted wagon crossover crap.

The BMW 328d xDrive Touring is sold in the US and would count as being both AWD and diesel.

Cool, I was wondering about the 3er wagon. At least the Alltrack is cheaper and we now have more (two?) choices.

Yeah, the gotcha with the 328d xDrive Touring is that a decently equipped M Sport model will set you back over $55K. Remove some options, you're still talking about $50-52K.

Personally, I would bite my tongue and get an allroad instead. Sure, it's not TDI, but a well equipped Premium Plus is still south of $50K.

It's not much of a rendering. It's just the Euro version of the lifted wagon, as shown here:

For comparison, here is the regular wagon:

Both are currently available, the regular wagon since 2010. They're fundamentally different from the cheapened and enlarged US Passat though.

More like a shopped image of the new Golf variant with the Passat Alltrack's cladding. To be fair, they did look very similar at first glance.
